March 2010
This is a sort of 'blog' - to give you a little bit of extra information. I hope you like the new additions to our website.....Lisa
We have two On-Line Exhibitions for the first time: featuring Kenneth Draper RA and Hamish Mackie ARBS – most works are available to view by appointment.
To get an insight into Kenneth Draper’s work Click Here – it’s always fascinating to learn what inspires and drives an artist. See some stunning recent works together with some earlier works including “Imminent Eclipse”- which was commissioned for the 2002 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Commemorative Poster and Banner (see left)
Hamish Mackie has recently returned from Lewa, Kenya where he was able to observe at very close quarters, some amazing wildlife in their natural habitat. This trip has totally fired up Hamish and he’s creating some absolutely stunning sculptures - capturing the essence and inner spirit of these incredible animals. Click Here for images.
What’s On – features major London exhibitions with details of some real gems:Van Gogh at the RA and Henry Moore at Tate Britain. The Van Gogh exhibition is just brilliant and gives great insight into a hugely well read and intelligent mind. The drawings are so powerful and seductive (even of the farmworkers) together with the wonderful sketches in his letters to keep his brother Theo informed of his finished works. The paintings are just fabulous. Huge crowds do not help, but listening to the audio tapes helps block out the people and gives a wonderful commentary.
I highly recommend annual membership to the RA and Tate: no need to queue or book for exhibitions, visit as many times as you like, really interesting ‘members only’ talks, quarterly magazines, and access to the various Friends/Members rooms.
Have you ever thought about having you or your family's portrait painted or sculpted?
I can recommend several really great portrait painters and sculptors......
