Charlotte Lyon
Click here to see Charlotte Lyon's GalleryCharlotte Lyon is an extremely well established artist and has been represented by many top London galleries including the Portal Gallery, Dover Street. Born in London in 1956, coming from a long line of artists, both her mother the Portal painter Toby Lyon and her father the sculptor Peter Lyon helped and influenced her early work along with her grandfather Robert Lyon who was principle of Edinburgh School of Art.
Charlotte is a strongly representational artist, whose work is dominated by the painting of animals, depicting them in twisted sculptural shapes or expressing their confinement by filling the canvas. Her colours are intense and her bold compositions suggest entrapment, at the same time conveying a strong sense of the animals’ dignity.
Working in oil on canvas and wood panel, Charlotte now lives and paints in Amsterdam where she continues to work in the same genre finding new topics, perfecting the style and expanding on format and technique
Her time is divided between exhibitions in England, France and Holland together with private commissions for clients worldwide. Private collectors include the author Jackie Collins and the playwright Lynda La Plante.
